Road trips:Most of the places in the deep mountains are only reachable by road and keeping the pandemic in mind, it seems like even a better option to embark upon a road trip. After spending many months at home, there is added pleasure in hitting the road and making the journey itself the destination. You can take your time with the places, halt for days longer and be in the comfort and safety of your own vehicle with a trusted driver. Best routes being Srinagar-Leh, Chandigarh-Sangla, Manali-Kaza, Kaza-Chandertal.

Spend more time in mountain towns: Travel can be a slower affair now, with us savouring our stays in the mountain towns and not just using it as a stopover for a base to the trip plan. Towns like Leh, Kaza, Shimla, Manali deserve a few days of their own, for walks, hikes, visits to temples, monasteries, enjoying sunsets over snowcapped peaks. There is plenty to do in these mountain towns and a slow stop spanning over a few days, will really help you to soak in the mountain goodness.

Send postcards from the Post office: Fancy receiving a postcard from the highest post offices in the world. Why don’t you extend that favour to the ones closest to you? Walk to the local post offices, find a postcard and send reminders of love to your loved ones. The postcard just might reach a few days later( if they live with you), but there is nothing that beats the warm fuzzy feeling of receiving a note from one’s travels. You can write one to yourself too :)

Unique/ Boutique stays :You can make your stay an experience in itself. Book yourself a night in a palace, or rough it out in a camping adventure by the windiest lake of the region, check into a homestay run by local families and enjoy the chatter about daily life. Depending on your budget, we can include a stay experience for you on your mountain journey with The Blueberry trails.

Hamlets : We cannot stress enough the beauty of staying in the smaller villages. Whether you make it a 2-day stay or a week long visit, the charm of enjoying the rural life of a region is something else. Villages near Ladakh are aplenty and it would be a great way to slow down the pace of your journey. You can read more about it here | Blog about  Offbeat Ladakh by The Blueberry trails

Stargazing in Hanle: Your research about Ladakh might have thrown up the mention of Hanle. Located on Hanle River valley on an old branch of the ancient Ladakh-Tibet trade route between Pangong Tso and Tso Moriri, it has garnered a lot of attention due to the Indian Astronomical Observatory located there. It is home to the Himalayan Chandra telescope, one of the highest positions in the world at 4500m. The Hanle monastery build in 17th Century is also quite a sight, perched on top of a mountain, it surely makes for a dramatic sighting while approaching the village.
